The sound is relaxing to my ears. Sounds like a Sennheiser. You might find that the bass is lacking (especially if you are accustomed to the bass and sound that Sony produces), but if you fiddle with the equalizer a bit, you can get it to sound like you want it to and fix the problem. Possibly for some people the maximum volume will not be enough, but it is sufficient for me. In addition to that, I already get the impression that it will be detrimental, and the sound will be distorted. Regarding the size of the ear pads: I am 34 years old, 187 centimeters tall, and have a head that is not particularly petite. At first, it appeared that the ear pads were too small for my head, but after adjusting the headband to fit my head, the size became normal. I can wear them for up to three to four hours without experiencing ear fatigue. Yet, if the ears were even slightly bigger, there would very certainly be some kind of discomfort. So, it is preferable to measure them. As I had already planned to purchase headphones for my kid, I did not give this much thought. In general, I thought the headphones were quite cool! especially when one takes into account the fact that they are now the least expensive option available. I really suggest that you buy.
