Handy Wind Meter that is Easy to Use

I’m impressed with this anemometer, as it is easy and straightforward to use, and you can easily switch between different units of measure. At first, I had trouble getting the battery compartment open, until I realized the meter is actually housed in a red over-molded rubberized cover. Once you remove the meter from the cover, you can access the battery compartment.I’ll be using this for several applications; out kayaking to know when it is safe, on the range to compensate for long range shots,

Pros
  • Can help optimize energy usage by measuring wind speed for turbines or generators
Cons
  • The device's buttons are not labeled, making it difficult to use for first-time users

So far so good but there were some problems…

So I want to say before I confess to this that I am an old gadget hound. My battery box is the size of a microwave and I have hundreds if not thousands of batteries of every different size. I have drawers full of electronic components and parts. I own three soldering irons. Seven sets of precision screwdrivers along with the normal size regular tools. 98% of the time I don’t have to take a peek at an instruction book. IKEA pays me to assemble stuff. And I couldn’t figure out how to put the…

Pros
  • Provides an accurate measure of wind speed for construction or building work
Cons
  • The anemometer's readings can be affected by wind direction

Accurate and super easy to use. Also durable.

I got this Wintact Handheld Anemometer because I fly multiple drones regularly that are significantly affected by wind. I needed a more exact way to measure the wind speed to determine if I had the necessary speed and power to fly upwind, whether on the way out or back in.This anemometer is consistent and accurate, allowing me to observe wind speeds over time (long enough to know what steady winds vs. gusts were like). After I started using it, it quickly became apparent that judging wind speed

Cons
  • The anemometer's temperature reading is not accurate

Nifty thing to track the wind

Where we live we get some pretty windy days, I saw this and was intrigued because I would love to know the wind speed, but am hesitant about installing a weather station. This is handheld and very user friendly. You turn it on and close km or mph or knots and let the wind blow. You can choose to keep it on different settings, my favorite being the one that stays at the top speed. For the money this is a neat little device to keep track of the windy days.

Pros
  • Easy to use and lightweight, making it portable
Cons
  • The device can be difficult to operate with gloves on

Compact and easy to ues

This little device is so simple to use. Very intuitive. The thermometer and anemometer both seem to be accurate. I like being able to choose the unit of measurement as well as the method -- current, maximum, or average. The battery compartment is "hidden" under the protective cover, and the strap is pre-installed.

Pros
  • What You Get: 1 x Wintact Anemometer, 1 x 3.0V CR2032 batterie, 1 x English user manual, 12 months warranty, and a friendly 24/7 professional customer service team.
Cons
  • The small size of the device can be difficult to handle for those with larger hands

Anemometer for kayaking, hunting, golfing etc.

Device to accurately measure wind speeds at your location, verify accuracy of weather reports, see if the prevalent winds are growing in speed over time. Can be used to make safety decisions on or off the water. Essential for any outdoors person's kit. Easily giftable and button battery included. Only dissapointment is no nylon case/pouch to store or keep close by on a belt loop. Otherwise overall well done!

Pros
  • ACCURATE WIND SPEED AND TEMPERATURE: The wind speed range: 0-30m/s, and the accuracy: ±5%. The temperature range from 14℉ to 113℉(-10℃ to 45℃). Selectable units for wind speed are m/s, ft/min, knots, km/hr, and mph.
Cons
  • The device's buttons can be hard to press

This cool tech device gives you a variety of ways to measure wind speed and temperatures. Easy to use and almost fun "testing” it’s accuracy. Tried it in front of a plug in heater, a fan, the outside breeze, etc… I got to use to check the air flow from our heating ducts through out the house. Besides that, I’ll take it with me during some recreational times like skiing and boating just as a fun gadget to bust out. I like it and recommend!

Pros
  • Compact size makes it easy to carry in a pocket
Cons
  • The plastic carrying case that comes with the anemometer feels flimsy and easily broken

Awesome for Flying Drones

This is awesome to take along when flying drones. Instead of taking the weather reports word for it, you can measure the wind in real time, where you are flying. This helps greatly reduce the risks of flying in to high of winds that can lead to your drone getting carried away by the wind, or worse. crashes. The fan does take a few sections to catch up to speed, but once it's going, seems to be pretty accurate compared to some of my more expensive versions. It's small, compact and durable…

Pros
  • Versatile enough to be used for indoor HVAC purposes as well
Cons
  • The device is not waterproof, despite being water-resistant

Not very accurate good for me

I was really intrigued with the anemometer at first, however as I tried it more I realized it isn't very accurate. Im not sure if they are all calibrated the same, but mine needs to calibrated. The temperature I tested against 3 other thermometers and it's sensor detected a little hotter than all 3 of the thermostats it was compared to.Im not that concerned about temperature but the wind speed was also off quite a bit. I tested against a 20 mph wind sock that was fully horizontal and the…

Pros
  • BROAD APPLICATION: Snow Sports, Water Sports, HVAC, Windsurfing, Outdoor Sports, Kite Flying, Sailing, Drone Flying, Shooting, Hunting, Boating, Climbing, Skiing, or any other activities.
Cons
  • There is no backlight on the device, making it difficult to use in low-light conditions

No instruction manual but not too bad to figure out

My son is a HVAC tech and needed one of these so he quit borrowing everyone else's. It didn't come with any type of directions or manual, but he was able to figure it out on his own. The first thing you have to do is insert the battery (which it comes with, thankfully), so you remove the skin and use a coin to get the cover removed. He was able to turn it on, and use the toggles to test it with what seemed like good accuracy. He's excited he no longer has to borrow from the "big boys."

Pros
  • Clear LCD display provides easy to read results
Cons
  • The anemometer's air flow sensor can be easily clogged by dust and debris

Lots of uses for this.

This is light and easy to use. It has a rubber cover to protect it. The cover has to be removed to reach the battery compartment. It is water resistant, but don't submerge it! You can set several scales for wind speed. The display is easy to read. My wife loves the weather, so she will use this a lot. It will also be handy if I fly my drone.

Pros
  • Thermometers & Weather Instruments
Cons
  • The plastic construction feels cheap and insecure

As described - my new review

It’s as described, and we really love it. It’s very accurate, easy to use and very easy to read. The only thing I wish it did was covert to/show cFM. But that’s maybe a suggestion for the next!

Pros
  • Ideal for a variety of outdoor activities, including sailing and surfing
Cons
  • The device's plastic construction is prone to cracking and bending

Reviewing: Wintact Handheld Anenometer Water.etc.

Wintact Handheld Anenometer Water.etc. This unit is surprisingly compact and easy to use. I can't speak to it's accuracy because I have no means of testing that, but it is very sensitive to the slightest breeze and seems to be accurate.

Pros
  • Can help determine safe conditions for outdoor sports and activities
Cons
  • The device's protective cover can easily come loose and get lost

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good size, very functional

I needed the anemometer to observe and compare the airflow from various outlets in my house. I didn't care about the accuracy as long as the readings were consistent for comparison. This did the job well.

Pros
  • Can help with weather forecasting and meteorological analysis
Cons
  • The device's battery compartment is prone to rust and corrosion
