So far so good but there were some problems…

So I want to say before I confess to this that I am an old gadget hound. My battery box is the size of a microwave and I have hundreds if not thousands of batteries of every different size. I have drawers full of electronic components and parts. I own three soldering irons. Seven sets of precision screwdrivers along with the normal size regular tools. 98% of the time I don’t have to take a peek at an instruction book. IKEA pays me to assemble stuff. And I couldn’t figure out how to put the battery in this thing for 40 minutes! It turns out that the case of this item is actually a rubber covering that comes off completely and gives you access to the battery door. I had no idea. In fact it wasn’t until I read someone else’s review. It just looks like the typical the armored rubber coating that you would find on binoculars or something. I didn’t realize that it came off. Also the fan will pop right out of the things you gotta be careful about that. It’s fairly simple and straightforward to use except it came with no instructions so I guess it’s good that it’s relatively simple. I’m sure there are more complex features that without documentation and won’t be able to access but I can get a win reading and it seems to be fairly accurate at the moment. Although other reviews seem to Lynne questions to its longevity. The normal industry standard anemometer among shooters is about $400-$600 so can you see there is an a startling difference between this and what a sniper would use. However so far it is working accurately enough that I am able to pick off cantaloupes at 400 m. And without all that much trouble. So for the lack of instruction and the fact that it doesn’t really seem to have that solid to build quality. I’m gonna give it three stars but I will consider raising that for after I get a couple of months of continuous successful use out of this. The reason it’s not for now is that it didn’t come with a case. That’s a pet peeve of mine of a little precision devices that are oddly shaped, they all need to come with the case. It’s worth the extra dollar or two would add to the cost of the item because it’s almost impossible to find something shaped like this or a gas meter or what not. Every gadget needs to come with a protective case. So it’s three for now but if it really does perform all overtime I will consider raising it to four. Or if I can get the manufacturer to get back with me with directions, that will be nice too.About the outer covering, who knew?
