If you're not in the mood to read my full review, just select five stars and buy this item. This lens shouldn't be your first choice when looking for your first four-thirds lens. To do this, you need a versatile wide-angle lens (such as the ultra-powerful Panasonic LUMIX G 20mm f/1.7). Keep in mind that this 45mm 4/3 lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 90mm. Therefore, you will not use this lens to capture subjects you are standing next to. Why buy this lens? I bought this lens to accompany my Olympus OM-D EM-5 (highly recommended) for portraits and telephotos (e.g. to photograph a rabid raccoon high up in a tree). The large aperture of this lens makes it easy to take well-exposed photos with a blurred background. The combination of a huge lens and large aperture also allows you to take pictures without a flash in extremely low light conditions (almost like night vision. Completely Splinter Cell style). Autofocus is quick and accurate, but manual focus is a pleasure with a large ring that's comfortable to hold. Most importantly, the photo quality is incredible. I love photographing street scenes and people often ask where I got my photos from as if they came from the internet. But if you'd rather photograph people than nature, you can buy this lens, spend a day learning how to use it, and then qualify to make money from wedding photography.
