I bought these because I grew up near a fault line and like to be prepared. While power outages were rare, when your flashlight's batteries are low, you're literally left in the dark. Now I'm far from it, but I still want to be ready. They are great for people living in disaster areas, forgetful people who love candlelight but are afraid of forgetting to blow out the candles, people who enjoy the atmosphere of candles, etc. Also for animal rescuers and in more rural areas you might have due to wildlife flea problems. If you place a very low plate or rimmed baking sheet and gently stir some liquid soap into the water and leave a light in the center of your plate - in the dark at night - the fleas will go to the light, climb inside, become trapped in the soapy film and drown. If the candle doesn't burn, it means the pets won't get burned, but they shouldn't drink soapy water!
