Review on πŸ” BARSKA X-Trail 15x70 Binocular with Tripod Adapter, Tripod, and Black Color by Julie Spalding

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good binoculars - worth the money.

I only have a few watches, but I know a bit about optics. I've seen bad reviews about the collimation not being aligned. I guess I'm lucky as my work works perfectly. Pros: Focus sharpness when dialing with both eyes is pretty good; very clear and sharply focused. The closest area you can focus on is about 30 (+/-) feet away. From there, the focusing isn't bad, but focusing at infinity hasn't been tested yet. I work in a fire tower and can remotely test their focus tomorrow (I'll update the review if anything changes). The trick is to place the top of the eyepieces against your forehead and use your head and hands to stabilize the image. If you use them for astronomy, a tripod is an absolute must. Even if you plan to hold them for a long time, your hands will surely get tired (see next paragraph). Cons: * They're heavy, which is to be expected with two 70mm lenses. But the included strap can also be a shoelace. It would be unbearable to wear them around your neck for a while with the included strap without severing your jugular vein :). I stole the wide/soft strap from my Nikon DSLR - problem solved.* The two front lens caps that protect the objective lenses fit together snugly, but they also come with an elongated cap that covers both eyepiece lenses (one cap is two lenses). . This cap is junk and difficult to use without stretching the cap itself or deforming the eyepiece rubber (or both). I wear glasses and always flip down the rubber eyepiece body over which the oblong cap still fits oddly but can be used*. The nylon case barely fits around the binoculars, especially the lens. It takes a bit of work to get them in the case, but they'll eventually make it. I wouldn't call it a protective case - more like a carrying case as it doesn't protect the binoculars from falls and bumps. But at least the binoculars don't get scratched when they hit the ground. The bag has a strap for easy portability.
