Edit: This product worked for a year then it cut the voltage from my alternator to the battery and my battery stopped charging. I eliminated this product and now my battery is 14v when the machine is running compared to the 11v this product reduced my power to. Runs from my 1/0 alternator to my big three's battery cable. There are no instructions in the kit and I didn't understand if the cable comes with + or -. I should have known it was black, but I put it on the positive terminal, thinking the digital display would be powered by its own power cord and grounded internally somehow? sometimes I don't think so. but I thought the digital display didn't work. Then I read the description on Amazon and found that it is indeed the negative lead. I connected it to the negative pole, everything works and looks nice. I think I'll try to add some kind of switch so I can keep the wire connected to the battery connector and if I want to see a reading I just have to flip the switch.
