They're easy to set up and use, and the RF capability means I don't need line of sight. TV input isn't a simple push of a button like an older version of the remote, and they're not easy to maintain. With two small children, something is often spilled. I like to take the remote apart to clean it like I do with a keyboard and mouse, but over the years manufacturers have made it almost impossible to take apart remotes. No matter how careful I am or how much time I invest, eventually something breaks. They're cheap enough to replace when needed, but I'm a big believer in recycling and hate unnecessary waste. If it's easier to replace than maintain, I'm not happy about it.
