Review on Elogio Carpet Treads Rubber Runner by Leo Govindan

Not recommended for frequently used stairs

We've had these carpet steps for about a month now. Installation was pretty easy. We used cardboard to spread them evenly across the stairs and once we got into the system the installation went smoothly. Carpet tape is easy to use, but cuts better with a razor blade than scissors. I liked the way the protectors looked after installation. After about a month I'm less impressed. The pattern is missing almost in the middle of the stairs (where we go most often). At the edges, the carpet began to separate from the base. They vacuum easily and while it is written that they can be removed for washing, we will not. I worry that they won't wash well in the washing machine with the edges already peeled off. Overall I feel we got what we paid for. We are planning to redo our stairs in the future but right now we need something that will help with sound and slip resistance. If I were to advise a potential buyer, I would say that it's probably worth spending a little more money to have a more durable product, especially if it's going to be used frequently or for a long time. If they were in this condition a year after installation I would feel different, but it's only been a month.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Very expensive
