Over the last 20 years I have replaced every ballast in my house as needed. Why mention it? I just want to point out that I can install it reliably and reproducibly with the usual ballast and it works. I received this ballast and in addition to the usual white, black, red, blue and yellow wires that I am used to seeing, this ballast includes a pair of brown wires. I studied a tiny map on the ballast and googled, binge, yahoo'd. My device had a setup where the end with the yellow wires was tied together and a single yellow pair was attached. This worked great for all my other attachments. The diagram shows two F40 T12 tubes to be joined in red/blue on one tube and tan on the other tube. Could you leave the jumpers intact and just use the yellow wires by disconnecting the brown wires? You need to cut the jumpers and connect them separately as shown in the picture. I've been looking for a long time and haven't found anything. The tombstones were measured as unranked and this finally decided me. I cut the jumpers on one end and connected them as shown in the diagram. One tube (red-blue) worked fine while the other didn't work and isn't working at all at the moment. And yes, I have brand new lamps (horrible results with lamps from other manufacturers (Feit)). I've searched and searched and still haven't figured out why this isn't working. Very frustrating. I probably should have returned this and gotten one in the configuration I'm used to, but ballasts are getting harder and harder to come by. I've been told that the F40T12 tube, once common as dirt, is going in favor of the T8 tube. I assume that the associated ballast will also become more difficult to obtain and more expensive. BTW, if anyone has a clue as to why this didn't work I'd be grateful. I've tried emailing the manufacturer but haven't received a response yet. It might still work. but not yet and I can't recommend it despite the cheap price.
