Great recipient! Flawless performance with Bravia TV

This receiver is great. I use it in combination with a 55" Bravia TV, five Polk Audio speakers, a Polk Audio subwoofer and a Samsung Blu-ray player. His remote control can control all TV settings but not the Blu-ray player. This receiver and TV work as one set, with one button to turn on, off, adjust volume, etc. The playback function only works for audio, which is a shame. I wish I could play YouTube videos, iPhone photos and iPod videos while doing it. However, it works great with audio and is very intuitive like you don't have to think for it to work. Just launch a YouTube or Music app on your iOS device, select STR in the playback dialog, and the device will turn itself on and the TV will turn on, switch to broadcast mode, play sound, and track the TV a few seconds even out of minutes. The TV in this case works like an expensive display. Sound amazing in movies, especially with Polk speakers. It decodes DTS audio from any Blu-rays I put on it. Great. Netflix decoding also works very well. The Netflix app runs on the Bravia TV and the sound is sent from the TV back to the receiver via an HDMI cable. Overall, it's very easy to use and 10 times less bulky than the 15-year-old Harman Kardon set it replaced. My wife, who is not a techie, could never figure out how to start the HK receiver. With that, she turns on the TV and doesn't understand that the Sony receiver is on, as it works with the TV as one device with no problems.
