These shoe covers were purchased to replace my very old shoe covers that were in need of repair and were not as warm as I need for winter riding (in Northwest Pennsylvania this means ice, snow and freezing temperatures). Haven't had the weather to try them out yet, but they seem to do the job. Velcro under the sole may or may not be a good idea; the time will show. The hard-wearing material on the toes and heels is valuable. My main criticism is the size chart. I've had a solid 44 ($10) all my adult life and read reviews before buying but had to return XL for XXL. This is madness! I have never worn size XXL! The XL cases were an unbearable burden for my Pearl Izumi MTB shoes and for the Shimano MTB winter shoes, both size 44, it was impossible to put them on. Be realistic with the size!
