I used a USB drive for the Time Machine backup but didn't like that it was sticking out and taking up the USB port. I often take out a drive and forget to put it back in. So I got this adapter and a 256GB micro SD card. This adapter fits my Late 2010 13" Macbook Air (A1369) perfectly and you won't even notice it's there. I can leave it on all the time and Time Machine backs up my data every hour.
