Energy Del Sol Flexible Solar Panel for Caravan

Item as described. As a background, the panel is glued to a rubber membrane, which in turn is covered with wax paper until you are ready to install (glue) it on the roof of your RV. When I unrolled the sheet for the first time, there were a couple of obvious bubbles where the layer between the sheet and the rubber membrane had separated during storage or shipping (one sheet was from September 2009, the other from November 2010, both were I unroll it and let it sit in the hot sun for 4 hours and the bubbles didn't go away but the sun did soften the glue so I put an old dull table knife (not sharp!) between the sheet and the membrane could get stuck to release trapped air. Then I used a linoleum roll (a rolling pin will do, but there are problems at the back.) The knife became a sticky mess, but once it came out the plate and membrane lay flat I don't know. What would you do in 50 degree weather - a heat gun can work and the same knife/and reel for the controller/batteries. I insulated each panel - each from them exceeds 68 watts and 4 amps they do it in partial shade! and late afternoon. Very satisfied. For example, when you charge the battery, slide the shutter and the RV, they hang right there at peak power. I wasn't impressed with the 20 holes in the roof to attach each panel with heavy duty rubber fasteners. I see that the manufacturer has replaced most of these screws with glued rubber fasteners, but these are clearly old stock. I ended up using standard Endurabond RV roofing tape with RV sealant around the edges to keep the adhesive from getting tacky. Much cleaner, lighter in weight and color and in my opinion everything you need to hold a streamlined, waterproof lure. And it's way better than the rumble of roof hardware for a standard metal-framed panel. Yes, a metal plate is cheaper and more powerful, but it's too cumbersome to raise and lower it every time you stop to get the maximum current.

Pros
  • Camping & Hiking
Cons
  • Almost OK
