Anyone who maintains aquariums knows that this is an expensive hobby. These are very good lamps for the money. I currently have 7 Optibright Max and Optibright Plus lights and have not been disappointed. Pros: - The price is good for an aquarium light - They are durable and well made - Their brightness is more than sufficient for most aquarium lights - I haven't seen one that causes algal blooms. Can't say the same for all brands - they all work with one remote Cons: - they all work with one remote. From time to time, one of them does not receive a signal from the remote control, and the light does not turn on or off according to the schedule. Also, due to a remote issue, all Optibright lights have to run on the same schedule - they don't have physical switches. It is bad if the remote control is not picked up by the light.
