This fan was an absolute disaster. I bought these because I wanted brighter bulbs (i.e. more wattage) for the living room as it is the only light source. The fan arrived damaged - a cover was broken and one of the blades was damaged. With our tenants moving out in a few days, I really needed to install this fan, so I decided to use the shades from my old fan and try to cover up the damaged areas of the blade with a dark stain. It gets worse. When my handyman started assembling the fan, the thumbscrews weren't long enough, and no nuts were included, and one set of washers was missing! The bill from my handyman was about $200 EXTRA because we spent time on a fan we couldn't use and time we spent driving to Home Depot to get another fan. The fan we ended up having had horrible candelabra bulbs which I was trying to avoid, so I bought adapters that would allow me to install a higher wattage bulb. You should have done that first.
