I'm a cross between a side sleeper and a stomach sleeper, roll back and forth at night. When I buy new pillows, I'm always torn when I see pillows for side sleepers and pillows for stomach sleepers. The great thing about this pillow is that I don't have to choose. The foam inside is removable and the included instructions will tell you how much or how much to remove for your preferred sleeping position. After fluffing the pillow in the dryer until it expanded to its full thickness, the pillow became very large and tall. In fact, I was afraid it would be too high for me to comfortably support my head. But the instructions say to leave it as is if you sleep on your side, so I gave it a try. I didn't have to worry - the filling had shrunk just enough to fit my neck and head nicely. I was also concerned that the shredded foam would feel lumpy, but the thick quilting doesn't really tell. I slept very well without constantly turning the pillow to find a more comfortable place to rest. The next night I decided to remove some of the foam as recommended for stomach sleepers. The instructions say when you sleep in this position, take out about 1/3 of the foam. Since I was so pleased with the full amount of topping I didn't take out that much, instead pulling out a few handfuls and putting them in the bag provided. Again it was comfortable but not as comfortable as I felt the first night. It's a personal preference and I'm sure a lot of people would like it better if some of the foam was removed, although I put it back in mine. I slept well every night I used it. My only issue, and it's a small one, is that the zipper to open the foam removal pad feels a bit flimsy. The train is small, difficult to grab and got stuck in the fabric a few times. This really won't be a problem as I probably won't need to unzip anymore once I've determined the right amount of foam needed for a better night's sleep. All in all a great pillow and one of the best I've had.
