Bought because after a quick job it would be a lot easier to clean than a much bulkier mandolin. And it's definitely easier to clean. However, one of the main uses was to use the blade for slicing vegetables such as cucumbers, radishes, carrots, etc. Cucumbers and other vegetables are too thin for my taste. I like to hand slice cucumbers 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick. The cutting head on these discs is closer to 1/16 or a little less. I'll keep it, but while I cut all the time I only use the grate on fairly rare occasions. I wish the list had clearer info on cutting thickness (maybe I missed that) and/or both a thinner and thicker cutting wheel. I can imagine using a thin blade for slicing, but no more often than for a grater.
