Review on Versatile Matte Black GPS Dash Mount: Garmin, Tomtom, Magellan, Rand McNally, Navman, & Cell Phone - Non-Slip Dashboard Holder for Satnav by Eric Longoria

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works so far, but with limited angles and questionable adhesion.

Although I gave three stars in the first three reviews, my overall rating is four stars. That's why. I've been using a fairly old 6-inch Garmin Nuvi in my summer cars for a few years, as they weren't equipped with a navigation system from the factory. The Garmin rattle worked pretty well, except for the Chrysler Crossfire, which has very stiff suspension and is a type of car that needs to be driven hard. I've driven the car about a few hundred miles since installing this base. The dashboard of this car is smooth as ice; it's amazing how slippery it is. The base of the rattle slipped off hard every time I turned or accelerated a bit too quickly. So it was useless on this machine. So far, the base in question holds the Garmin in place. However, I didn't make any sharp turns, stops or rabbit starts. I drive fairly conservatively, but there are a lot of rough roads here and driving usually involves a lot of stops and traffic on the roads. , base and Garmin fly off the dashboard. It's pretty shaky. There are so many viewing angles available, none of which are entirely satisfactory. But I can live with the most perpendicular angle to the dashboard. So I gave this base four stars overall because it seemed like the best affordable option I could find. I refuse to tape anything to the windshield, mainly because the windshield is already so small. I expect I may have to resort to a different type of glue for this base sooner rather than later.
