UPDATE: The Anker replacement arrived today and when I plugged it in it worked straight away with no issues - I literally connected in less than 10 seconds. This was on a MacBook Air with Catalina. I'm so glad I sent it back and bought another one. Usual assessment: It doesn't work without drivers. The website for the drivers does not clearly state what you should download. When you finally find the driver and try to install it, the Mac blocks it for security reasons, and if you then let the computer continue with the installation, the installer hangs and locks your laptop, so you can't even get around it without one force restart (and keep up with the error message saying you might damage your computer if you restart it, god). And after all that, although the connection shows up in the network settings after a reboot, it says that it can't connect because the cable is disconnected, when clearly it isn't. Other Mac owners may have better luck than me, but my experience over the past half hour was lazy and I ended up returning it and ordering the Anker product that other reviewers mention on this site. I only wish I had read the 1 star reviews more carefully before even ordering.
