I have a tarpaulin with ripped spots. I've tried using this to temporarily patch it until I can fix the cracks. The tape stuck to the scissors or razor where I had to remove it with my finger and then that spot became less sticky. The biggest problem, however, was that after cleaning the area with alcohol and applying it, the tape came off after about 30 miles of driving. I've even placed it between two weighted boards for constant pressure at night and left it in the sun to heat up the next day. If the lid was literally in one place and only used for storage, maybe everything would be fine.
