Great design. Bought 15 months ago, used 8 inch filter extensively several times a week to rinse up to 3-1/2 cups of beans and grains at a time. The broad "ear" at the top is like a third hand: rest your ear on the rim of a sink, vessel, or counter while holding the handle and pouring. The wide band around the rim holds the strainer in place and also acts as a funnel to prevent liquid from escaping overboard. Unlike other highly rated filters*, these filters **do not rattle at all** and contain no water at the edge that keeps dripping after you think you've shaken it dry. There is one potential downside. , especially for the 8 inch model: the handle is welded to the rim. So to shake water out of a basket full of heavy objects I would recommend holding the strainer by the edge with both hands, not just shaking the handle or even the handle and ear. After the initial shock of the 8" grip and a year of heavy use, the grip wire broke so I sent a picture to the seller and asked for a replacement. Within a week, the seller kindly sent back a completely new set; The new ones look like they've been redesigned with stronger, wider contact welds. So very good customer service for those who care about quality. Highly recommended. (*Another glaring flaw with this other competing filter is that it can't hit a straight edge as its 2 studs don't extend past the top of the rim!)
