Review on ASUS XG248Q 23.8" Adaptive Esports Monitor - Full HD 1920x1080, 240Hz, Blue Color, Flicker-Free, Adaptive Sync Support by Leon Gorinson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The perfect Gsync TN monitor

This monitor performed better than I expected. I've considered buying the pricier 25-inch Asus ROG Swift/Strix models since Nvidia has added Gsync support to both Strix lines, but I was won over by the ability to add ELMB (Low Motion Blur) at 240Hz use. No other monitor can do this right now, and it's hard to believe that it's more powerful and $150 cheaper. Coming from a 24" BenQ RL2455, it was slightly larger for my workspace, so the slightly smaller 23.8" was not a problem compared to larger screens. The size difference is barely noticeable. Picture wise the picture is slightly better from colors but like all TN panels it's not as vivid as IPS. The 240Hz was a big difference straight away as I've personally never seen more than a 60Hz display. With a 1070 GTX GPU, Fortnite is the only game I can reliably get over 200 fps in, but I wanted a more reliable purchase given the price I spent on a monitor. complaining that with ELMB the screen goes dark to compensate for obedience at night is not a problem and in my opinion using low motion blur is better than even gsync (which you can't use at the same time) there it reduces latency and eliminates motion blur when you rotate the camera a bit in games. In addition, the base is very large, protrudes slightly from the base and the cables can be inserted rather awkwardly at an angle into the back after attachment. All in all, there's nothing stopping me from calling it a 5-star monitor. for this price. It's not budget by any means, but the only other finishing option is $200 more expensive and not as powerful in terms of performance.

Pros
  • Got it on the main day. LOVE IT. Just note that you need a USB 3.0 A-to-B cable for AURA to work.
Cons
  • Power cord missing
