I have a 46 inch waist and size XL fits me. I ended up buying several of these. wear. I threw away the shoulder straps. They are not needed. You'll feel better and more confident as soon as you put them on. I use this back brace regularly for outdoor work, mowing, garage work, and other activities that require me to move, bend, and lift. I keep one in the truck, in the garage, and in my travel bag in case I get into a situation where I need help with a physical exertion like changing a tire or something. I also give them to my friends and they really start to appreciate them. Inexpensive, very well made, comfortable and durable. Very good product.
