After a long search I bought this machine at an inflated price due to the high demand for sewing machines during the pandemic. For starters, this model doesn't come with an instruction manual. I had to order a photocopied, wire-bound version online for $24. There is a free online version, but I like having a paper version. Cheaper models offer an instruction manual. The machine is square and due to the design, threading and changing of the sewing feet takes place at the back. Most machines taper towards the needle and presser foot area, but not this one. light is useless. I had a $100 Kenmore with a better design and backlight. I had to buy a powerful lamp to see. The needle was not properly centered upon arrival, making auto-threading impossible and the needle touching the sewing feet. I was willing to return it (at my own expense) but the clerk at the fabric store suggested an adjustment and the issue was resolved. Stitch quality is good The machine handles thick fabrics well. Two months later I bought a Viking Husqvarna which I am in love with.
