First of all I was very impressed with the quality of this cable. The wires were thicker than I expected and the connectors felt solid and sturdy. This is a great cable if you want to split 1 output/source to 2 devices (speakers, headphones, etc.). However, my use case was the opposite; I want to get audio from both my PC and Xbox (via the jacks) and connect my desktop speakers to the jack. While it works well when only one of the devices is connected, it doesn't "meld" the sound well with both connected devices, especially when one of them is idle. There don't appear to be any resistors connected to the pin ends. So, for example, if my computer is playing audio but my Xbox is off, the signals are really going to my Xbox (since that's the path of least resistance) and not me. Speaker. I tested this by plugging my headphones into the plug I used for my Xbox and I heard loud and clear audio. Obviously a simple fix for this would be to just disconnect all devices when not in use, but if I wanted to permanently disconnect something I would just switch on the device connected directly to the speakers (and I wouldn't do that). ). this cable is required. If your use case is similar to mine, your best bet is to use a real mixer with the right summing circuitry. I found one for less than $30 (Little Bear MC5) that has other features like volume controls and I think it's worth double the price of this basic cable.
