A NOTICE. This product works (only) with a PC that supports Display Port Alternate Mode (Alt Mode).

This product works (only) with host computers that support Display Port Alternate Mode (Alt Mode). Send Displayport video data to this adapter. So if you only have a basic USB 3.1/USB-C "USB Data Only" port, you will not be able to view video on the output ports of this product. Didn't like that this is a major use. Chassis/compatibility information wasn't listed in the product description at all. I ended up having to download the PDF manual and go through many pages to find the answer to my #1 question on the subject. All products like this one on the website should be listed as USB 3/USB C Docks with Alternate Mode Display Port, not just USB 3/USB C Docks as there are MANY and possibly most USB ports on PCs, the Display Port don't support Alternate Mode. And there are many dock/adapter products that do not require the host computer to support USB with DisplayPort Alternate Mode, since these other dock models really only contain a USB technology based chip such as B. some of the Displaylink that generate DisplayPort or HDMI outputs. only from the main USB input. It is almost impossible to search/buy and distinguish products that only use plain USB 3 inputs and produce DP/HDMI outputs as the subset of products that actually work for this mode of operation are in a sea of products is lost, the USB require alt mode support from the host computer and you have to search the fine print on product pages or manuals to see if they really need DP Alternate Mode or if they integrate some kind of chip like some from Displaylink that allow them to work with almost all host computers USB 3.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • The list will be long.
