This is clearly a quality speaker/microphone. Weighing just under 14 ounces, the MaxHub is solid, attractive, and functional. Zoom was originally necessary for me. My Dell laptop's camera is in the lower left corner, which doesn't give a pleasing image when zooming in. This is closest to my left nostril and I seem to be looking up and to the right. It may be good for friends, but not for business zooms. So I decided to buy a webcam and microphone for my desktop. You can spend as little as $20 on a USB mic, but you get what you pay for. A multidirectional device with automatic volume control like the MaxHub would be a much better choice in the long run. This model has 6 microphones, so it can also function as a conference table in a boardroom. In addition, it has noise cancellation. I tested the MaxHub on a Zoom plus desktop as a speakerphone connected to my Android phone. Both connections are via Bluetooth. Both worked well, with great sound quality. The people on the other end of the line reported that my audio was no different than normal and the speaker quality was excellent. I also turned on some music and the speaker sounded fantastic. When you open the box you will first see some printed materials. Go straight to a black sheet folded in half that says "Speakerphone" on one side and "MaxHub" on the other. It has simple, concise instructions for setup and operation. It also explains the meaning and function of the various indicators on the device. Setup was pretty easy: plug the power cord into a standard USB-A power adapter and the other end of the USB-C into the device. Press and hold the power button to turn it on and the Bluetooth button will flash. On a Windows computer, open Settings, then Devices, then Bluetooth, click Add Bluetooth or other device, and then click Bluetooth. The Max Hub BM21 appeared, and when you clicked it, it paired and connected instantly. For your Android phone, open Settings, Connections, Bluetooth and pair it. Just search for MaxHub on your paired device and connect. The MaxHub doesn't automatically connect every time you turn it on, which makes sense as you might want to connect it to something else the next time you turn it on. I have other Bluetooth devices that "don't let go" of the previous connection and it's quite annoying. Bottom line: a good, high-quality speakerphone that is worth the money.
