I can do the same to turn it off. It claims to turn itself off after eight hours, but I didn't let it run that long. I tried this on my cat and it didn't calm him down. I think this will work for some pets and not for others. To me, the heartbeat device is a bit useless. It's more of a humming vibration than a heartbeat. Personally, I would find it much better if the padding was thicker and there was no heartbeat device. The current price of $25.99 is too high for that. Please note: I like the angles of this pillow as it fits easily in a drawer, but it can also be used without a drawer.
