Nice little camcorder

I have a nice little mini DV camcorder. However, I'm so tired of having to play a video to download it on my Mac. After hearing Andy Ignatko's rave reviews of this camera on MacBreak Weekly, I decided to give it a try. It creates .mod files which are a special form of MPEG-2. However, iMovie '08 has no problem porting them to Mac. It does what I wanted - almost no waiting to download a movie on Mac. And instead of importing everything I've recorded, I can just import any edits I want. This is a big advantage. There were other reviews about the quality of the video. You should compare it to other cameras in its class like the popular iFlip. I think this camera is almost the best in its class and it's certainly comfortable to use. I think my Canon Mini-DV could be of better quality. But then it's a much bigger camera and I have this horrible expectation that I won't edit much of my video. I love this camera and carry it in my laptop bag. This is the camera I carry with me most of the time. Now for what I don't like: mainly the battery life. It charges in just 40 minutes: good. It has failed me several times due to battery drain. Buy a second battery. Convenience is the main reason for buying this camera, and it's inconvenient to carry around a second battery and charge it. Another small issue: it uses a high-speed SD card. These SD cards are required for video, but are more expensive and not every card reader can read them. Some complaints in other reviews that the format is unreadable may be due to an incompatible card reader. I've never worked with Panasonic software; I've only used iMovie '08 with it.
