This is a great little apple slicer. We eat more and more apples because the size of the piece is addictive. The blades are actually sharpened and the staggered design, a set of 8 on top of each other, helps reduce drag from the dice. It's also nice to have a tray that you can use to gently cut the apple and detach the slices. The only downside I've found is that the actual adjustment from 8 to 16 fragments is a bit clunky. A fairly large apple will fit, and I've had no trouble with honey chips, Gala, or Jonagold. Those 16-per-apple slices can still be too big for pies. I would like a version with 20 pieces.
