Review on Lamicall Tablet Stand Height Adjustable by Jason Bollinger

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Reliable and durable - even with a 12.9 " iPad Pro - and looks great!

I received this product for free through the Vine program. I'm a doctor and I use my iPad Pro to take notes when observing patients, which I then use to complete my clinical documentation on my computer later in the day. I've used the Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad as a "stand" but this setup isn't ideal as my notes are written with the iPad in portrait mode while the stand only works in landscape mode. As a result, I had to either scroll through my handwritten notes to read everything, or shrink my notes to the point where my already awful handwriting had become illegible. . Enter: Lamicall booth. I wasn't sure what to expect but this thing is amazing! BUILD QUALITY: Overall the stand is solid and well built. The stand is weighted so the whole setup feels solid, even with the 12.9-inch iPad Pro in portrait mode. Unlike the base and some of the other stand components, the main arm of the stand is actually plastic rather than metal. It feels solid enough but is a little disappointing as an all-metal construction would have made the stand even stronger and had a "premium" feel. But even with the plastic everything seems to be well constructed and since this item doesn't move too much I'm not overly concerned about durability over time. Pushing a small plastic button adjusts the height of the stand. The button is a little hard to press, but overall it works as intended. The actual "holder" has the ability to tilt from a straight position to an angle of approximately 45 degrees. So far, this adjustment is quite tight and doesn't gradually "sag" in one direction or the other, which, given the size and weight of the iPad, bothered me a bit. I'm a little worried it might loosen up over time, but so far it hasn't been a problem. I'll update my review if this really becomes an issue over time. Plastic components aside, this stand is well built, and for the price the seller is offering at the time of writing this ($30), it feels like it. pretty solid. It looks nice and high quality with a nice minimalist aesthetic. 5/5 FUNCTIONALITY/EASE OF USE: As mentioned above, the stand works great: it stays where it's placed (relative to both the height and "tilt" of the holder), it's nice and stable. The gap in the middle allows me to keep my iPad connected to the network without rotating the iPad 180 degrees, which is nice. I wish there were side levers to hold everything securely, but I know this can reduce the "versatility" of the stand. But even without the side supports, everything is stable and I'm not afraid that my iPad will somehow fall off the stand. My only complaint is that I wish the stand could be lowered a little lower. Even on the lowest settings, my iPad still sits a bit high for my liking. Not a deal breaker by any means, but it would be nice if I could lower the stand an inch or two. Aside from that one issue, however, I have absolutely nothing to complain about with this stand: it works well, feels secure, and performs as expected. 5/5 GENERAL: If you need a tablet stand check out Lamicall - so far I'm very happy with it. Well built and made from quality materials, it holds my hefty iPad with no problem. For the fairly specific purpose I had in mind, the stand works great. Although I got this stand for free, I wouldn't be disappointed at all if I paid for it. Definitely recommend!
