Great car for the price. The steam hand really works on this generation. A few notes: 1. Remove and discard the rubber/plastic piece on the steam nozzle. 2. Load the steam line; a good stream of water comes out first; You don't want it in your milk!. 3. Turn on the group head for a few seconds - twice; If you don't do this, some cold water will get into your coffee. 4. After you've finished brewing and removed the portafilter, rinse the group head by simply pumping it for a few seconds - twice. This will remove the coffee grounds from the "shower head". 5. ALWAYS pour into clear shot glasses; 25-30 sec MAX. If you can't get two ounces. 30 seconds of espresso, your grind is too fine or too thick. Less than 25 seconds? Grind finer or pack more for good hard hits. A simple digital kitchen timer is all you need. Even if you don't know what a good shot looks like; Heart, body, creams, ask the barista at your local GOOD cafe; not Starbucks. They don't even take their own shots! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO EMPHASIZE: Don't fire shots to turn up the volume; run on time. Pump espresso machines experience VERY high steam pressure during operation, and this sub-$100 machine certainly isn't going to be powerful and internally rebuilt to last. With the good technique mentioned above, I was able to use this baby for months without a problem and didn't have to pay $4 a day for a store latte. I also descale after every 2 pounds of coffee with Goo Gone Cleaner. Enjoy!
