Friends bought me this espresso machine in 2003 but in 2016 the pump failed. I think this car is worth the money. I just replaced it with the exact same make/model and the new one works just as well. I think it's great that I can make myself a latte in a coffee shop in the morning for free. My friends love this machine so much that I have now given it away as well, knowing how well it has worked over the years I encourage anyone to buy this machine for everyday espresso/latte making without a…

Good express, short lifespan

These are 2 stars for one reason: short lifespan. The machine works well as advertised and the espresso is of good quality - I've been using it twice a day (or more) for the past two years and can confirm the results of the more positive reviews here. However, after the first year of operation, water began to seep from underneath with each use. At first it was a small amount, but gradually the leakage began to increase; Now twice as much water as the amount of espresso it produces in one use…

Don't buy this car. I am completely shocked.

Do not buy this car. I am completely blown away that this product can somehow get a 4 star rating. The first espresso machine I encountered didn't work at all. It was sent back and we decided to try and replace it and give it a try. The machine is cheap, so it is understandable that the probability of getting a faulty device is relatively high. The replacement worked for about 2 weeks until it stopped working too. With such a track record, we won't be looking for another replacement. It hardly…

I have a few reservations about extending the lifespan of this.

I have a few reservations about extending the life of this machine: 1. I was replacing 3 ECMP50 coffee makers until I watched a few YouTube videos and figured out what DESCALING involves , and thought I'd add a few words to those below. Scale occurs in the heat exchanger inside the machine. you don't see it If you do not descale the ECMP50 regularly, the metal seals in the heat exchanger block will clog, crack and eventually leak. Reason for my 3 replacements. To avoid this problem, add a…

Great for the price - handle with care. Handy tips below:

Great car for the price. The steam hand really works on this generation. A few notes: 1. Remove and discard the rubber/plastic piece on the steam nozzle. 2. Load the steam line; a good stream of water comes out first; You don't want it in your milk!. 3. Turn on the group head for a few seconds - twice; If you don't do this, some cold water will get into your coffee. 4. After you've finished brewing and removed the portafilter, rinse the group head by simply pumping it for a few seconds - twice.

Great car! Paying off!

I bought this machine just before Christmas and have been using it for a few months now. I love it! I was thinking of much more expensive machines but didn't want to be forced to buy specific 'pods' or 'k-cups'. I also like to mix coffee (half coffee, whole coffee, etc.). But I prefer to prepare myself a cup of espresso or coffee. Years ago I told my husband not to buy me a push button machine because I really enjoy making my own drinks. So if you want to push a button and get an espresso, this

Great machine for beginners, not picky or professional baristas

I'm by no means a pro but I worked as a barista at a successful Mam and Pop cafe for a year so I know how to make a good one Shot and steam the milk properly. I love good coffee, but I'm not a fanatic. I wanted to be able to make Americano espresso and sometimes lattes at home. I did some research and chose this car because it cost less than $100 which is what I was looking for. I also checked out Hamilton Beach which is under 100 and the Delongs. I know it's the best brand but this car was a…

Best home machine for the price

I bought this to replace my Saeco Starbucks espresso machine which was amazing until the pump broke. How many of them. Saeco is no longer made (probably due to the difficulty of making a durable pump for those typical small, inexpensive espresso machines). This machine Mr. Coffee for the price is the best I have found and I did a lot of research considering I had a killer espresso with my Saeco. Most of the complaints in the reviews here can be attributed to people who just don't know how to…
