I have a few reservations about extending the life of this machine: 1. I was replacing 3 ECMP50 coffee makers until I watched a few YouTube videos and figured out what DESCALING involves , and thought I'd add a few words to those below. Scale occurs in the heat exchanger inside the machine. you don't see it If you do not descale the ECMP50 regularly, the metal seals in the heat exchanger block will clog, crack and eventually leak. Reason for my 3 replacements. To avoid this problem, add a descale to your calendar about once a month. The instructions in the manual are fine, although I use regular descaler, not vinegar. The dirt that comes out tells me it's helping.2. The only other leak (unless something is seriously wrong) is if you frothed milk and forgot to empty the overflow bowl on the front of the machine.3. The frothing head is made of LIGHTWEIGHT ALUMINUM and SEPARATES after you remove and reinstall it a few times. Consider purchasing spare 1-hole nozzles so you have them on hand when you need them. Clean the tip after frothing. Steam into your water-filled container, then wipe the tip clean. If you don't remove it, it's unlikely to break.
