The BENQ EW2780U 27-inch 4K monitor may appeal to many. The hardware is great overall. It has a great fit and finish, intuitive menus and back buttons that are easy to use, excellent resolution and deep black levels. But there are a few downsides. As a business/work monitor, it doesn't shine. I assumed that static windows would not be a problem for this display. But it just isn't as clear in displaying terminal windows, browser windows, and other development and business applications as other IPS monitors from Samsung and LG. It's not scary, but this static code window monitor looks like a 10 year old monitor. But plug in a gaming console or streaming device (Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, etc.) and this monitor shows what it's capable of. This is a great gaming monitor for the money. Business, oddly enough, not so much. Although I use it a lot more for business, it's a good choice for my work from home work as it acts as a second monitor alongside my ThinkPad's main display. I don't regret my choice at all. Just surprised how much better it displays videos and games. If you can live with a panel compromise, give it a try. If you want the best, maybe check out the Samsung QLED panel. They are amazing no matter what they show.
