Great travel size notebook for journalist or note taking.

I currently use a hard cover notebook exactly this size for my journal right now. I had to try these out because I work as an engineer and engineers love to write and draw on graph paper if that even makes sense at all. I also like to use fountain pens so I thought I would put this lovely little book to the test. As I commented earlier, the notebook size and covers are perfect. Great feel in hand, good size. They have all of the necessary requirements of a great travel or desktop journal including the page strappy thing and the pen loop. The pen loop although its too small or tight for my Parker Duofold, it does fit the Lamy Logo or CP1 very nicely into the loop. It should also fit any standard size ballpoint or click pens except those with the widest bodies. I probably could have squeezed the duofold in there but who wants a notebook with a stretched out pen strap. Of course, I wouldn't carry my fancy pens in the loop anyways, but its there none-the-less if you want to use it. The title page is somewhat awkard as are some of the other Eastern culture notebooks where they have lines on the bottom of the first page. Traditionally in western culture the tile and date would be on the top of the page. The graphs are nice and well printed with uniform color throughout the book as is the binding. The book marks are nice as well and there are two of them to mark your spot. With the book strap, that allows you three built in bookmarks in case you have to use them. The ink absorbs quickly onto the page using my black ink fountain pen, and there is very little bleed or feathering on the page. Out of the three notebooks I review today, this one was in second place for the show through on the back of the page that I wrote on. You can see from my intentional smudge that the ink holds up well on the page.Without hesitating and smearing the last word I wrote, I also closed the page as I flipped it over. This was done intentionally as well to see how much ink would blot off the page as you are writing. Out of the three journals that I reviewed today, this was the worst of the three for ink transferring to the previous page or in this case the cover.Over all this is a very nice notebook. I like the size and the paper is decent. Is the paper higher quality then other notebooks that I use. No, it is not. It is a very smooth finish paper with minimal bite and your pen will flow smoothly across its pages. It's not a bad paper, but its no strathmore. Will I use these notebooks? Right now, no. Will I use them in the future? Possibly. I really like the size and the feel of the notebooks. Of the three notebooks I reviewed today, this one would be my 2nd favorite. Why do you ask? You will have to read my review for the one I am picking as my favorite of the 3 to find out.Overall, this is a great notebook for the price. I like the fact that its a 2 pack with different colors and I got it to keep one to use and give the other away to a friend who may need one. That way I can share the wealth and maybe get somebody else hooked onto writing with fountain pens. Would I buy this again? Personally I might look for something with a little bit thicker paper. There is nothing wrong with this book, but with the show through and blotting of the ink on the previous page, It might not work for the a fountain pen journaler. For the normal ball point writing person, there is no problem with this book and they are really nice to have, carry and you will be proud to walk into a meeting or a job interview holding this little book in front of you.
