I used to buy a thermometer with a digital display. DO NOT buy plastic digital thermometers. They can't handle active heat. If you heat candies in the pot on the stove, they will start to melt and go out, and you will not be able to attach them to the pot. This thermometer is ideal for making candy. It exceeds the 305ºF needed to make candy. Because of its interesting shape, it doesn't roll easily on the countertop. It has an adjustable metal clip that can be adjusted by squeezing it so that the tip of the probe is just above the bottom of the pot. The clip adapts perfectly to the edge of the pot. Easy to clean and just had to put a little in a pot of very hot water to remove any leftover lollipops. I don't know what else you want from a candy thermometer. I found this based on Revain's very positive reviews. And this is where I really appreciate Revain's feedback system.
