My hamster didn't ride anything else until we got this. We (also well-intentioned but uninformed hamster owners) originally had a small spoked wheel that someone had given us. We realized very quickly that she was too small, then we bought a flying saucer, she didn't even try to use it and I think she was too small again, and then we finally got an 8.5- Got inch silent spinner and she looked crazy to us. and stupid that he even tried to give it to her. It was awful, noisy and really unstable, and yet TOO SMALL for a Syrian! Enter the silent runner. It's 12 inches in diameter (the perfect size for a Syrian), works great without the usual squeak and noise of a regular bike, and fits perfectly in the frame of their Prevue 528. Fast, but it doesn't matter and doesn't seem to disturb her. She accepted this bike straight away and sometimes I find her just sitting in it at night, intimidating because it's semi-closed and seems like a safe option. My main issue with this is that my hamster started peeing on the wheel while running so after a day or so it leaves quite smelly. This is quite normal though and I wipe the wheel down with a baby wipe every morning and take it out to wash when I do a full cage clean. She also accidentally fell asleep while driving because she had been running for so long that she was tired! When I try to take her gently to the shelter she hobbles there like a drunk old lady because she is so tired 😂 So I think that's a win! I'm not a fan of this color and I hope they consider making other colors besides yellow and orange. But overall it was a great purchase that gave my hamster something to do at night. The closed front makes it feel secure and stable when running and luck is not something to judge. Now she seems to be a much happier little girl and I'm so grateful to have this bike!
