works on a 2007 FJ Cruiser

I got it to work on a 2007 FJ Cruiser even though the description says it won't work. The order came with two keys, which cost about $49. I went to Wal-Mart and asked them to cut the key just like my OEM key and in my particular experience I didn't have to worry about the chip (it might be different if you have a different year) and wal -Mart did that. don't burden me (experience in other places may vary). After that I printed out a sheet from www.programyourremote.com and it gives you a few tasks like putting the key in the ignition and opening and closing the driver's door. In my experience with the 2007 FJ Cruiser I had to repeat the last 2 steps several times and then when I tested the door open (BEFORE I CLOSE IT AGAIN!) it finally worked (same for both keys). I've been using it for 2 days now and can't get enough! The scammers at the retailer wanted $300 for the key fob + programming fee and the end product would only be the remote itself, not the remote + key in one unit like you get here. So, all said and done, this saved me about $550.

Pros
  • handily
Cons
  • not reliable
