Review on Phanteks Heat Pipes Premium Patented PH TC14PE_BK by Rod Evans

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The slower chip was tested again in mid-tower and showed almost the same temperatures (maybe a degree or two.

I bought two of these for a pair of AMD FX 8350 processors, one of which could be overclocked to 4.4GHz and the other 4 .7 GHz stable and both run at 1.42 V. Both chips idle at 20 to 30 seconds, with temperatures reaching around 60 degrees Celsius on the day of the stress test. The ambient temperature in the room is about 75 degrees Fahrenheit or 24 degrees Celsius. I used Hyper 212 EVO before and it didn't help. With the same clock speeds and voltages, the idle temperature was around 40 degrees Celsius and the load temperature immediately reached 65 degrees. I didn't have it, so the purchase was fine. Both chips were tested in a Fractal Define XL R2 case with the side panel removed, in case you're wondering. The slower chip was tested again in a medium tower case and produced about the same temperatures (maybe a degree or two higher). Your mileage may vary as core temperatures can vary wildly depending on the chip, but I thought someone might be interested in what results they can expect. The product itself comes with all mounting brackets, two fans and an extra pair. soft strips to reduce vibration noise if you decide to add a third fan later, and some thermal paste (which actually works pretty well). The installation is what you would expect. The CPU cooler has always been the biggest problem when building a PC. You'll need to use some force and you'll need to use a screwdriver to do this (at least for socket AM3+), so be careful. I don't want the Philips head going through the motherboard. I would cry for you The last thing I want to mention is that the thing is pretty big. Check your case clearance before purchasing. If you have high-profile RAM, you may need to raise the fans on top of the heatsink a bit, further increasing its height. Even if the cooler fits, there may be later removal issues (fans need to be removed to access the bracket). It should fit comfortably in any full tower, but be careful when building a medium tower hull! Hope that helps!

Pros
  • The patented PATS improves the cooling performance and reliability by reflecting the thermal radiation of other heat sources like GPU, Southbridge). , Northbridge, etc. PATS can withstand temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than others
