The strong gassing of the material it is made of made me very apprehensive about using it for my pet. I want to use this as a permanent addition to her sleep box so she has some privacy and comfort but the smell is so awful I'm hesitant to even use it. I went ahead and did this to see if that would fix the stench. I had no trouble washing as it held up very well, but even after two washes it still stinks more than I'm comfortable with for something I want her to sleep next to all the time. I really like the design of the case. much, and it is beautiful and strong. The downsides are that the material smells really awful, it's not meant to be washed (although it held up well in my washing machine) and even if you wash it it doesn't completely get rid of the smell. Had it been made from good material, the design and build quality would have been worth paying more for. I regret not having spent more to get a natural product. That being said, it's probably fine for casual outdoor use when you need some protection from the elements and good airflow to reduce the amount of outgassing your dog breathes in, such as when you're not. B. on the beach or lake. Or, if you just don't care about such things, then I think you'll be pretty happy with it no matter how you choose to use it.
