Just wanted to add that last summer we got another air conditioner of the same brand and size for our very large living room and made sure to pre-order another bracket before installing it. We have a very old house and our window sills are not standard. We found it easier to drill a small groove for the thick cord before installing the support shelf, but that's the only difference we had to make. After experiencing very windy and wet weather in Southern California this "winter" we are MORE impressed with the impact this product has on stability, noise reduction and window frame wear. We love it! In all honesty, we tell everyone we meet who is buying an air conditioner not even to think about installing it without one of these! Original Review: We recently installed a new room air conditioner and purchased this mount just in case. We live in Southern California, where earthquakes are common, and we wanted to make sure the AC had good solid support. What a difference this item made when installed! It really was such an improvement over the old situation. I am ordering another one for another air conditioner in the room we are about to install. The funny thing is that the new air conditioner we bought didn't fit so we had to put the old one back. The main reason we bought a new one was that the old one filled up with melt water or condensation due to the house settling at an odd angle over the years. The old unit re-entered the window and now with proper support properly drains and no longer fills with cold water. Problem solved! If only I had thought if it was before! The reason I say this item is a must-have is because: * It installs easily from the inside and provides all the support you will ever need * It takes the weight of the unit off the windowsill and spreads it out evenly * A cover that fits the house, lays flat and won't ruin your trim or paint * It makes it easier to take the air conditioner out of the window if you're doing it for the winter. Great product - don't install a new air conditioner without it and consider buying it to help your old air conditioner reach its potential.
