Review on Kaito KA200S Pocket Radio Gray by Alex Jain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great low tech option

I usually take my wife out for coffee in the morning and then walk back over our hill in San Francisco. I listen to financial news and was using my iPhone with headphones, but the signal dropped once or twice on the way back, resulting in long buffering or a complete loss of stream. So much for 4G changing the world. In case you haven't noticed, listening to a radio app on your smartphone can drain your battery pretty quickly. This little radio is simple, easy to use and has good reception. It delivers stereo sound, which isn't always the case with these pocket radios. Kaito uses two AAA batteries that last many, many hours before needing to be replaced. I also hear it when I'm doing home improvement projects. Something more reliable and less risky than listening to your smartphone while standing on the stairs or under the sink. Perhaps the only downside is that it uses a rigid, retractable antenna that's fairly easy to break off if, like me, you have golden retriever fine motor skills. With that disclaimer, this is a great low-tech solution.
