My husband and I have been using this for a few years and now we can't sleep without it. When the power goes out, we wake up because we hear noises. When we travel, we take it with us, even if it's bulky. I regret if I don't. It does a good job of blocking out noise pollution without getting too loud, but that might not be enough if you live in a very noisy city. In some reviews of this and other similar models, people complain that they aren't as loud as AC wall units or police sirens cover up. Be reasonable people. You can't expect something the size of a grapefruit to drown out a jackhammer outside your window. . Adjusting the sound is easy, just twist. You can move it further/closer to the bed to improve efficiency. The controls are simple, which I really appreciate. In dim light (or half asleep) you don't need something this complex, so you end up hitting the wrong button and waking the sleeper up. Also, I don't need 20 rush options, once you find something that works for you 19 other frog/wave/gull/shower options become redundant and just clutter the device. I'm taking this with me to use in the hotel room I share with my mother. I'm glad the buttons will be easy enough even for them. I like that it's a simple plug in the wall, no batteries/charging required. The night light is really good, it has 2 modes: bright enough so you can see enough but soft enough not to wake the sleeper. The night light feature comes in handy when used in unfamiliar hotel rooms (rather than leaving on a bathroom light that's always too bright to keep me awake, or leaving it off and kicking my toe, of course). This is how a strange hotel room feels a bit more like home. This is one of the few true fan styles that has a night light! In short, I LOVE this car. I plan to buy a second one so I have an extra if company stays overnight and so I have a spare for travel. Money is tight so I refrain from buying a second one as I hope the following models will have the options below (or a good coupon will appear ;). The only CONS I have: 1) It would be nice if the cable plug was 2 in 1 so you can unplug to open the USB for the option when wall plugs are not available. 2) More color options! There is only white :( I hope a very light blue, gray or brown/black would suit my room decor better. 3) A smaller travel size would be great! so it doesn't take up much space in your suitcase. 4) Raised knobs. The surface is completely flat, like a touchscreen, making the buttons difficult to find/identify without looking directly at the device, which is more difficult in the dark or when the device is on tall furniture. Right now it just needs to take up extra space because I will NOT leave the house without it. Thanks to Accumed for a great machine.
