I purchased this Startech PCIe Parallel Printer Adapter Card to connect an HP LaserJet 5 printer to my new Dell Windows 7 desktop computer. The card was easy to install. However, after installation, the card did not work and Windows Device Manager showed that there was no driver for it. I put in the full size CD that came with it and looked carefully for the driver, but the CD that came with the adapter doesn't have it. I went to the Startech website, downloaded the driver, installed it with the default settings and Device Manager showed the card was working fine. I installed the LaserJet 5 printer driver and mapped it to LPT1. When I tried to print I only got errors. Upon closer inspection, the Startech driver referred to the card (the only card added to this PC) as LPT3. In general, the default should be LPT1 if no other LPT adapters are available. After replacing the card with LPT1, printing worked fine. The card is nice and works well but note that it does not come with the required driver for Windows 7 and runs on LPT3 by default. The manual that came with the card only covers Windows prior to Vista and makes no mention of Windows 7.
