I tried two other speakers in this price range before finding this one. If you spend time listening to the radio without noise cancellation, this speaker handles static well. The sound filter is switched with the button on the side of the speaker. The only negative is that the plastic overlay on the button comes off fairly easily. A drop of glue helps. The sound quality is excellent for the price, with the filter on some high tones are lost but the voice is still understandable. Pulling out that weak SSB signal is really easier when the high pass audio filter is turned on. High quality plastic case
