I no longer trip over bikes in my shop

Received the box last month and installed it on the ceiling. The installation instructions were pretty good, but I would recommend numbering the parts and referring to those numbers to avoid guesswork. Installation into my 14" ceiling joists was easy, although I did need help installing the motor. I didn't use the included anchor bolts but used construction beams that are about equivalent. I prefer the more aggressive threads on these screws. Everything was installed and I was ready to install the bar only to find I was missing a part. After a few calls/messages to Proslat customer service, we resolved this issue. Thanks to customer service, this is a small business that obviously cares about their customers. Anyway, I got the hanger, installed it, hung all the bikes and got a little excited. They didn't look great, all were saggy and the bar had a little nod to that. The flex is due to the joints in the handlebars, I think the stem was strong enough. Bike hooks work well on a single bike. In my opinion they allow too much left-right movement and are free to work when the bike hits bumps frequently. When the bikes are close together and tangled up a bit, I find them safer. The first photo is the original setup. It's a 12-foot ceiling, and the 29-year-old's front wheel on the right is about 6 feet 2 inches off the ground. So I live in California and my biggest concern is that the next earthquake will rain bikes. I'm pretty sure they will work without a hook and pole during a big shake. Also, I wanted everything to look a little tidier, so I ditched the hanger/hook approach and built a better one (for me, at least) from some scrap wood I had at the store. I use a strap/hook on the back of the seatpost to hold it in place. The bikes are well spaced, don't bend, and are safer. See second picture for details. I'll sculpt and paint it after using it for a bit. The engine is loud but very fast. Stop works great. Recommended because it is ready to use (4 stars). Highly recommended after my custom mods (5-stars but needs some work) Go Go Gator!
