I'm a car enthusiast who works alone a lot. I have a 4 car garage with 1 tool box and work area. With 4 kids the bikes easily take up the entire bay and every time I have to go to the tool box I have to push the bikes back and forth. I was able to install this in about 2 hours using the video from their website and it works great, the kids can use it easily and the bikes don't get in the way. Thanks to the other reviews posted here I was able to prepare ahead of time and call an assistant to install it. As others have said the holes were not 16" apart (the builder said more than 19.5") so he had to drill new holes to match the joists in the ceiling. I also bought some new anchor bolts for him (others have said they broke some of the ones included in the box) but the builder ended up not needing them. But once installed, it works like a dream!

Received it and installed it myself the same day with no problems. If you have enough hands, this is not a problem. There are some heavy parts so two is better. The device is well assembled and works well. It's very wide, so plan plenty of space. I replaced the supplied screws with heavier retarded screws as I didn't trust what was supplied but they are probably fine, I just redesigned everything. I was a bit nervous after reading some of the other reviews but once I started I had no problems. I drilled the pilot holes and installed the screws with a ratchet instead of a drill press or whatever other people used. None of them broke. It contains all my Christmas stuff that I keep in the garage plus a few extras. I had to adjust the straps to make it a little higher. When I first tried to install it 4 anchor bolts broke, 1 with an impact wrench and the last 3 with a socket wrench. everything broke in the same place where the thread starts. So I stripped everything down and bought some screws at a hardware store and everything went fine after that. But when I got to the last bar, the holes didn't line up with the centers of the 16-inch studs as intended. I thought maybe the frame was wrong until I measured the actual bar and the center hole didn't line up…

My new garage alligator is missing a part and I haven't had a response from them in over a month after trying everything. I've tried emailing them through their website, I've called every number they have in every department and everyone has a voicemail box and they don't answer a single call. Does the job as a lift, but you can buy a more powerful lift for a lot less. As a bike lift, you're better off with manual bike pulleys. I have manual bike pulls and they pull the bike up to the ceiling and you can easily park your car in the garage. Not so with this one. First, as the highest point, the bike hangs 1 foot below the ceiling. Received the box last month and installed it on the ceiling. The installation instructions were pretty good, but I would recommend numbering the parts and referring to those numbers to avoid guesswork. Installation into my 14" ceiling joists was easy, although I did need help installing the motor. I didn't use the included anchor bolts but used construction beams that are about equivalent.
