As expected I tested the cable prior to installation and it worked fine. I routed it from the HDMI splitter, through the wall, through the attic and down to the bedroom. Connected to an HDMI audio output (my bedroom plasma doesn't decode Dolby) and to a TV. The TV is only 1080p so I can't test how it works in 4K but I can say it works fine in 1080p. The HDMI connector at the receiving end (which I believe contains the optic-to-cable conversion electronics) gets quite hot, but doesn't seem warm enough to cause any problems. The shell acts as a heat sink. This cable is much more powerful than the 25" HDMI 4K non-optical high-speed cable that was as thick as your pinky and couldn't even support a stable 1080p signal without dropouts.
